President Tim Bryce called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. R.. W.. Bill Petry,

P.D.D.G.M., DI gave the invocation, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

President Tim Bryce announced that this meeting would be dedicated in memory of R:.

W:. Thomas L. Cox, P.D.D.G.M. who passed away a couple of weeks of ago. R.. W:.

Howard Knapp, D.D.G.M. delivered the eulogy and a moment of silent prayer followed.

 

President Tim Bryce then proceeded with the regular order of business. All members and

guests were welcomed and the members of Nitram Lodge were thanked for providing the

meeting place and dinner. The kitchen help, who prepared our fine meal, were then

introduced.

 

It was regularly moved, seconded and passed that the previous meeting minutes be

accepted as printed and distributed.

 

Treasurer’s Report: Our ending balance from the previous meeting was $4,539.47. The

current ending balance is $4,011.32 with $1,830.43 reserved for our Scholarship Fund. It

was regularly moved, seconded and passed that the treasurer’s report be accepted as read.

 

Secretary’s Report: Roll call was taken with 11 Lodges represented and 43 Brothers

present: Star Lodge —7; St. Petersburg Lodge —1; Nitram Lodge —3; Northside Lodge —

0; Elmer 0. Smith —4; Tarpon Lodge —0; Pearl of the West Lodge —5; Dunedin Lodge —

P.D.D.O.M., Secretary read a thank you letter from Bay Pines Hospital for this

Associations contribution of $1,125.00 for their Christmas Party and another thank you

letter from Grand Lodge for our contribution of $1,150.00 to the Treat Fund.

 

Old Business: The Hot Gavel is at St. Petersburg Lodge. The Traveling Gavel is at

Northside Lodge. There was a report on the Masonic Home Employee Christmas Party.

The event was well attended and was an enjoyable event as well as a success. R.. W:.

Paul Stellrecht gave a Social Committee report. Twelve to 15 attended the “Night at the

Races” at Derby Lane Dog Track. An enjoyable time was had by all who attended. Our

outgoing President, W.~. Tim Bryce presented his outgoing report and comments.

 

New Business: Installation of Officers for the ensuing year was then held. Installing

Officer was R.. W:. Howard Knapp, D.D.G.M. and Installing Chaplain was R.. W..

Paul Stellrecht, P.D.D.G.M. The following officers were installed in their respectivó

office:

President David Henderson then continued with the regular order of business. President

Henderson appointed the following to serve on the Audit Committee: W:. Tim Bryce,

Chairman; R:. W;. Jim Clouser, P.D.D.G.M.; and W:. Don Harwood. President

Henderson next appointed the following Brothers to the Scholarship Committee: R:.

W.. Howard Knapp, D.D.G.M.; R:. W:. John Hickey, P.D.D.GivL; R;. W:. David

Neveitt, P.D.D.G.M.; W:. Danny Robinson and W.. Joe Engolia. A motion was

regularly made, seconded and passed that the amount of this Association’s scholarship

for 2006 be $1,000. R.. W:. Paul Stellrecht was reappointed as the Social Committee. A

discussion was then held concerning this Associations Web Page. The official webpage

W.. Tim Bryce announced that if anyone was interested in forming a local chapter of the

Philalethes Society to contact hint W:. Tim Bryce also announced that the 6th annual

Trap Shoot will be held in April at Silver Dollar. More details to follow. A motion was

regularly made, seconded and passed that we donate $160 to help fund thePilgrimage

Day at the Masonic Home on Sunday, February 12,2006.

 

Past Presidents of this Association were then introduced. R:. W:. Bill Petry,

P.D.D.G.M., District Instructor of District 20 was introduced. District Deputy Grand

Master of the 21 ~ Masonic District, R:. W:. Howard Knapp was introduced. R.. W:.

Rick Hoover, District Instructor of District 21 was introduced. All newly installed

Worshipful Masters present were recognized.

 

A Mite Box was placed on the head table for this Associations Scholarship Fund.

 

The next Masters & Wardens meeting will be held at Clearwater Lodte on March 15.

2006. Dinner at 7:00 n.m. and the meetin2 at 8:00 pm.

 

It was also decided that the bimonthly meetings of this Association will be held as

members and guests were welcomed and the members of Clearwater Lodge were thanked

fbr providing the meeting place and dinner. The kitchen help, who prepared our line

meal, were then introduced.

 

It was regularly moved, seconded and passed that the previous meeting minutes be

accepted as printed and distributed. R:. W.. Ronald McMillan, Secretary, read a letter

from the Masonic Home Employee Christmas Party Committee and announced that a

refund check in the amount of $327.17 was received and turned over to the Treasurer.

 

Treasurer’s Repoit Our ending balance from the previous meeting was $4,311.32. The

current ending balance is $5,819.34 with $1,858.43 reserved for our Scholarship Fund,

and $327.17 reserved for the Masonic Home Employee Christmas Party Fund. It was

regularly moved, seconded and passed that the treasurer’s report be accepted as read.

Old Business: The Hot Gavel is at St. Petersburg Lodge. The Traveling Gavel is at

Elmer 0. Smith Lodge. W:. Tim Bryce gave a report of the Auditing Committee. it is the

conclusion of this Committee that the Association’s finances for the year 2005 have been

managed in accordance with standard accounting practices. R:. W.’. Howard Knapp,

Chairman of the Scholarship Committee said the deadline for accepting applications will

be April 7, 2006 and announced that the Committee had received 31 applications thus far.

W:. Tim Bryce announced that the 6th Annual SunCoast Masters & Wardens Trap Shoot

Tournament will be held Saturday, April 15,2006 at the Silver Dollar Shooters Club in

Odessa, Florida. R:. W.. Howard Knapp reported on the Pilgrimage Day held at the

Masonic Home on February 12, 2006. Everyone present had a good time and due to the

cold weather, the event was moved inside the Masonic Home. W:. Bob Matheson, Vice-

President announced that this Association’s Annual Golf Tournament will tentative be

held in October, but no specific date has been set at this time.

 

New Business: An announcement was made that there will be a hospitality suite at our

Grand Communication this year, to be held jointly with Districts 22 and 23. W:. Tim

Bryce announced that the “Roasting” of the DDGM’s for Zone 6 will be held at Zenda

Grotto (Tampa) on May 20, 2006 with a social hour beginning at 7:00 p.m. and the

Smith was thanked for providing and hosting the new web site for this Association, at no

cost to this Association. It was announced that the Zone 6 Legislative Meeting for the

approaching Grand Communication will be held at Zenda Grotto on April 12, 2006

beginning at 7:30 p.m. It was announced that M:. W.. Elmer Kaufman, PGM replaced

M:. W.. Roy Crother, PGM as Grand Treasurer.

 

As is customary at this meeting, the 2006-2007 District Deputy Grand Masters and

District Instructors were introduced. They are as follows:

minutes due to the death of his younger sister from cancer. RW. Rick Hoover filled in as

Old Business: The Hot Gavel is at Elmer 0. Smith Lodge. The Traveling Gavel is at

Pinellas Daylight Lodge. The Scholarship Committee gave their report regarding the

recipient of this Associations Scholarship, which was awarded to Ryan Joseph Mills. He

will be attending the University of Florida and the amount of the scholarship is $1,000. A

report was given on the Trap Shoot. A total of $315.00 was raised with the following

winners in respective order: Patrick Bryce I; Steve Segall II; and Clift Church ifi. Star

Lodge was the overall winner. This Associations Annual Golf Tournament will be held at

East Bay Golf Course on October 7, 2006 at a cost of $65.00. The DDGM Roast will be

held on May 20,2006. The new SunCoast Masters & Wardens Association website will

be up and running June 1, 2006.

 

New Business: R.W. Dale Gehrig, candidate for the J.G.W. spoke on his past Masonic

career. The Grand Masters Official Visit to the 20th and 21g Masonic District will be on

July 15, 2006. A motion was regularly made, seconded and passed that this Association

advance the incoming DDGM’s $3,500 to help with the expenses on this event.

 

The “Two Minute Drill” was then held with various announcements from the various

Lodges.

The next Masters & Wardens meeting will be held at Dunedin Lodge on July 19,2006.

Dinner at 7:00 p.m. and the meetini at 8:00 p.m.

Old Business: The Hot Gavel is at Northside Lodge. The Traveling Gavel is at Pinellas

Daylight Lodge. W. Bob Matheson spoke about plans for the upcoming 5th Annual Golf

Tournament It will be held Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 11:00 am at the East Bay

Country Club in Large. Prices are: $50 for sponsorships; $65 for a round of golf. Gulf

Beach Lodge then donated $100 for two sponsorships. Since this is the Association’s

primary fundraiser, it was requested that all Lodges promote this event in their meetings.

Trestleboards, and on their web sites. Brother Chris Schienker, Senior Warden of

Dunedin Lodge gave a brief report on the Grand Communications held this past May. In

essence, nothing of substance passed. Grand Lodge appointees were recognized and

introduced.

 

New Business: A motion was regularly made, seconded and passed that this Association

establish a standing committee to discuss the need for and preparation of Grand Lodge

legislation.. The Committee wifi be chaired by W. Tim Biyce. The first meeting will be

Saturday, September 23, 2006 at 8:00 am at Dunedin Lodge. A motion was regularly

made, seconded and passed that this Association establish a standing committee to

organize and assist in the planning and implementation of Grand Masters Official Visits

New Business: A motion was regularly made and seconded that this Association not

support a dinner for the Grand Masters Official Visit to Districts 20 and 21. After much

discussion, the motion was de1~ated.

 

As is customary at this meeting each year, the incoming District Instructors and District

Deputy Grand Masters were introduced. They are as fbllows:

announcement on the approaching Scottish Rite Foundation of Florida, USA, Inc.

fundraiser with Ill. Ernest Borgnine, 330, Grand Cross.

Old Business: The Hot Gavel is at Pinellas Daylight Lodge. The Traveling Gavel is at

Nitram Lodge. W:. Bob Matheson, Vice-President gave a report on this Association’s

annual golf tournament. He made a recommendation that a committee be formed in future

years to assist the Vice-President in coordinating this event. W:. Tim Bryce announced

that the Proposed Grand Lodge Legislative Committee Meeting will be held on

September 23 at Dunedin Lodge beginning at 8 AM.

 

New Business: A motion was regularly made, seconded and passed that we form a

committee to pursue the option of self funding wind and storm insurance for Districts 20

and 21. W:. Tim Bryce will chair this committee. The Masonic Home Employee

Christmas Party will be held on December 16, 2006 and the following Brothers were

appointed to serve on the cóórdinating committee: R:. W:. David Neveitt; R:~. W:.

David Henderson; and R:. W.. Jim Mason. R;. W:. Howard Knapp announced that the

recipient of this Association’s scholarship was Mr. Ryan Mills. A motion was regularly

made, seconded and passed that the Scholarship Committee members be the same for the

ensuing year. R:. W:. Ronald McMillan,, Secretary read a letter from George “Red”

Russell, Masonic Service Representative at Bay Pines VA Hospital. The Bay Pines

Christmas Party will be held this year on Friday, December 15, 2006. We will assemble

.in the Cobb Room. A motion was regularly made, seconded and passed that this

Association contribute $1,125.00 for this Christmas Party. W:. Tim Bryce announced the

GI Care Package Program and asked every Lodge participate. A flyer is attached to these

minutes. An announcement was made that Corkey’s Cupboard at the Masonic Home is in

need of supplies. The Social Committee suggested that we hold our next gathering at

Derby Lanes after January 1st. They are looking into a possible function at Tampa Bay

Downs.

you letter from M:. W.~. Roy Connor Sheppard, PGM, Grand Secretary for this

from the University of Florida for the recent $1,000 scholarship provided for Mr. Ryan J.

Mills from this Association.

Old Business: The Hot Gavel is at Star Lodge. The Traveling Gavel is at Dunedin

Lodge. W:. Bob Matheson, Vice-President gave a report on this Association’s annual

golf tournament. Total receipts $1975, total expenses $410 giving this event a net income

of $1565. A motion was made, seconded and passed, that this evening will be the final

night for the silent action for the autographed Buccaneers jersey of Cadillac Williams. A

motion was regularly made, seconded and passed that the proceeds from the Golf

Tournament be split as follows: Masonic Home Treat Fund - $1,000; Masonic Home

Employee Christmas Party - $400; Postage for the GI Care Packages - $75; Scholarship

Fund - $90 plus the proceeds from the autographed Buccaneers jersey. W:. Tim Bryce

gave a report on the Grand Lodge Legislative Committee meeting held at Dunedin Lodge

in September. The only major proposal was that the actual dollars expended be included

in the Grand Lodge Budget. W:. Tim gave a brief report on the self funding wind and

storm insurance. This was tabled until the next meeting. R:. W.. David Neveitt

announced that the Masonic Home Employee Christmas Party will be held on December

16, 2006 starting at 5:00 PM with dinner at 6:00 PM. R;. W.~. Ron McMillan reminded

everyone present that the Bay Pines Christmas Party will be held Friday, December 15th.

We will assemble in the Cobb Room at 12:30 PM. R:. W:. Paul Stellrecht, Social

Committee Chairman, announced that the Night at Derby Lane will be held on January

19,2007. More details will follow.

The Two Minute Drill was held with various announcements from the various Lodges.

 

Introductions were then made: District Deputy Grand Master of the 21~ Masonic District,

R:. W:. David Henderson; R:. W.. Rick Hoover, P.D.D.G.M. District Instructor of

District 21.

 

A Mite Box was placed on the head table for this Associations Scholarship Fund.

 

The next Masters & Wardens meetine will be held a! Dunedin Loive on January 17.

2007. DInner at 7:00 n.m. and the meetinf a! 8:00 n.m. This will be the installation of

officers for the ensuln~ year.
