MINUTES OF THE SUNCOAST MASTERS & WARDENS ASSOCIATION MEETING


JANUARY 15, 2002
Tampa Bay Lodge No. 252 F.& A.M.
Dinner 7:00 p.m. Meeting at 8:00 p.m.

President Bill Petrey called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. P.D.D.G.M. John Hickey, Star Lodge #78 gave the invocation followed with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

President Bill Petrey then proceeded with the regular order of business. All members and guests were welcomed and the W.M. of Tampa Bay Lodge was thanked for providing the meeting place and dinner. The kitchen help, who prepared our fine meal, were then introduced.

It was regularly moved, seconded and passed that the previous meeting minutes be accepted as printed and distributed with the following corrections: At our November meeting, the Masonic Adventures, Inc. donated $125 to the Grand Masters Charity and $125 to this Association's Scholarship Fund.

Treasurer's Report: Our ending balance from the previous meeting was $2,326.98. The ending balance was $3242.79, with $183.90 reserved for our Scholarship Fund. It was regularly moved, seconded and passed that the treasurer's report be accepted as read.

Secretary's Report: The Secretary read a thank you letter from George "Red" Russell, Masonic Service Representative regarding the Masonic involvement in the Bay Pines Christmas Party. A thank you letter was also read from Roy Connor Sheppard, P.G.M., Grand Secretary for this Association's contribution of $250 to the First Lady's Project.

Roll call was then taken with 12 Lodges represented and 43 Brethren present:

Old business:

The Hot Gavel is at Elmer 0. Smith Lodge. The Traveling Gavel is at Star Lodge.

It was regularly moved, seconded and passed that the proposed amendment to this Associations by-laws be adopted and a copy sent to Grand Lodge for proper filing.

President Petrey gave a brief speech as outgoing President as well as a report of the Projects for this past year. Brother Tim Bryce was thanked for all of his hard work.

New business:

A motion was regularly made, seconded and passed that this Association present a Scholarship this year in an amount of not less than $500. Brother Tim Bryce is to Chair this Committee.

An Audit Committee was appointed to be Chaired by W:. Rick Hoover, DI.

Installation of Officers for the ensuing year were then held with Installing Officer - Bill Petrey and Installing Chaplain - Ken James, Sr. The following were installed for the ensuing year: President-Elect - W:. Rick Hoover, DI; Secretary - R:.W:. Ronald McMillan, PDDGM; Treasurer - W:. Ralph Vaughan, PM. Our duly elected President was unable to attend this evening, so W:. C.D. Kennedy, PM will be installed at out March Meeting.

Introductions were then made. R:.W:. Elmer Coffman, Candidate for Junior Grand Warden was introduced and gave a brief speech. All PPDGMS; Past DI's; Past Presidents; Sitting Masters; Senior Wardens and Junior Wardens present were introduced. W:. Sam Lampson, DI from District 20 was introduced; W:. Rick Hoover, DI from District 21 was introduced. R:. W:. Jack Stabler, DDGM of District 20 was introduced; R:. W:. David Neveitt DDGM of District 21 was introduced.

The next Masters & Wardens Meeting will be held at Nitram Lodge on March 20, 2002.

President Bill Petrey called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. W:. Bruce Moir, Worshipful Master of Tampa Bay Lodge No. 252 gave the invocation followed with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

President Bill Petrey then proceeded with the installation of W:. C.D. Kennedy, President of this Association for the coming year. All members and guests were welcomed and the W.M. of Nitram Lodge was thanked for providing the meeting place and dinner. The kitchen help, who prepared our fine meal, were then introduced.

It was regularly moved, seconded and passed that the previous meeting minutes be accepted as printed and distributed.

Treasurer's Report: Our ending balance from the previous meeting was $3,242.79. The current ending balance is $3,484.98, with $183.90 reserved for our Scholarship Fund. It was regularly moved, seconded and passed that the treasurer's report be accepted as read.

Secretary's Report: The Secretary read a thank you letter from Thomas H. Weaver, Medical Center Director of the Bay Pines VA Hospital thanking this Association for their contribution of $800.00 for the Bay Pines Christmas Party.

The Secretary announced that the changes to our bylaws have been forwarded to Grand Lodge for approval, but no response has been received as of yet.

The Audit Committee gave its report and found everything to be in order. W:. Ralph Vaughn was commended on a job well done.

New business:

Tim Bryce gave a report on the Scholarship Committee. He said all of the schools in the area had been contacted and the Committee has several applications.

A motion was regularly made, seconded and passed that this Association serve the dinner for the Rainbow Homecoming to be held at the Tampa Scottish Rite on June 30, 2002 at 12:30pm. It was suggested that any available brother that can assist would be appreciated.

Introductions were then made. R:.W:. Larry Powell, Candidate for Junior Grand Warden was introduced and gave a brief speech. All PPDGMS; Past DI's; Past Presidents; Sitting Masters; Senior Wardens and Junior Wardens present were introduced. W:. Rick Hoover, DI from District 21 was introduced. R:. W:. Jack Stabler, DDGM of District 20 was introduced; R:. W:. David Neveitt DDGM of District 21 was introduced. The DDGM's announced the following incoming appointments for the ensuing Grand Lodge year: the Incoming DDGM for District 20 will be W:. Gerald Lee. District 21 will be W:. Paul Stellrecht. The incoming District Instructors will be W:. Tony Rhoades for District 20; W:. Rick Hoover for District 21.

The next Masters & Wardens Meeting will be held at Sutherland Lodge on May 15, 2002.

President C.D. Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. R:.W:. David Neveitt, District Deputy Grand Master of the 21st Masonic District gave the invocation followed with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

President C.D. Kennedy then proceeded with the regular order of business. All members and guests were welcomed and the W.M. of Sutherland Lodge was thanked for providing the meeting place and dinner. The kitchen help, who prepared our fine meal, were then introduced.

It was regularly moved, seconded and passed that the previous meeting minutes be accepted as printed and distributed.

Treasurer's Report: Our ending balance from the previous meeting was $3,872.94 with $183.90 reserved for our Scholarship Fund. It was regularly moved, seconded and passed that the treasurer's report be accepted as read.

Secretary's Report: The Secretary read a thank you letter from M:.W:. Glenn Phillips, Grand Master thanking this Association for its contribution of $125.00 to the Grand Master's Charity, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The Secretary announced that the changes to our bylaws have been forwarded to Grand Lodge for approval, but no response has been received as of yet.

Brother Tim Bryce gave a report on the Scholarship Committee. Brother Bryce announced that 52 applications had been received and after a motion duly made, seconded and passed that this year's recipient by Joshua Trulock from Palm Harbor University High School. Brother Bryce then presented the Secretary a check for our scholarship fund in the amount of $375.00 from the Masonic Adventures Trap Shoot.

New business:

Masonic Adventures then presented a check for $102.00 from their fishing trip to sponsor a resident of the Masonic Home in skilled care.

Incoming DDGM Paul Stellrecht requested this Association advance the incoming DDGM's for Districts 20 and 21 $2,000 for the Grand Master's Official Visit to be held July 20, 2002 at the Elks Club in Tarpon Springs, followed by a tiled meeting at Tarpon Lodge. A Motion was duly made, seconded and passed to advance these funds.

W:. Rick Hoover brought up the fish fry that this Association sponsors. After much discussion and due to a lack of sufficient funds being raised during this event, a motion was regularly made, seconded and passed that this Association sponsor a District Gold Tournament and Awards Banquet with the proceeds going to the Masonic Home. More details will be announced at a later date.

Introductions were then made. W:. Rick Hoover, DI for District 21, R:. W:. Jack Stabler, DDGM for District 20 and R:. W:. David Neveitt DDGM of District 21. Both DDGM's thanked the Districts for their assistance and support during their term of office.

The next Masters & Wardens Meeting will be held at Star Lodge on July 17, 2002.

Brother Rick Hoover made an announcement concerning this Association's Golf Tournament. It will be held at Airco Golf Course on Saturday, September 21, 2002 with a shotgun start at 8:00am. The cost is $60 per player, with 2/3 of the proceeds going to the Masonic Home and 1/3 of the proceeds going to this Association's Scholarship Fund. There will be an awards banquet following the golf tournament at Sneaky's Sports Bar & Grill.

New business:

None.

Introductions were then made. W:. Tony Rhoades, District Instructor for District 20; W:. Rick Hoover, District Iinstructor for District 21, R:. W:. Jerry Lee, DDGM for District 20 and R:. W:. Paul Stellrecht DDGM of District 21.

The next Masters & Wardens Meeting will be held at Clearwater Lodge on September 18, 2002.

R:.W:. John Kavanaugh, candidate for Junior Grand Warden gave a brief speech concerning his Masonic history and goals for future years if he were elected Junior Grand Warden. He then took questions from the floor regarding various issues.

Introductions were then made. W:. Tony Rhoades, District Instructor for District 20; W:. Rick Hoover, District Iinstructor for District 21, R:. W:. Jerry Lee, DDGM for District 20 and R:. W:. Paul Stellrecht DDGM of District 21.

The next Masters & Wardens Meeting will be held at Gulf Beach Lodge on November 20, 2002. This will be election of officers for the ensuing year.
