It is our sad duty to report the passing of Brother Timothy J. Denehan on October 10, 2017. Brother Tim, son of W:. John and Maria Denehan, passed away unexpectedly at his home. There will be a memorial service on Friday October 27th from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at the Sylvan Abbey United Methodist Church located at 2817 Sunset Point Rd. in Clearwater. Alas, my brother!

Mumma, Gene K., Past Master July 7, 2017

It is our sad duty to report the passing of Worshipful Brother Gene K. Mumma, Past Master of Gulf Beach Lodge 1968.

Brother Mumma passed to that celestial Lodge above on July 7, 2017 at his residence.

Here are some highlights from W:. Mumma's year as Master:

The following elected officers were installed in 1968, W:. Gene Mumma-Worshipful Master; Brother John Cone-Senior Warden; Brother Roy Saunders-Junior Warden; Brother James Stebelton- Treasurer and W:. Wm Voss- Secretary. There were 284 members in 1968. The Master’s Project was to purchase new kitchen equipment. The stove and hood suppression system were put in. The Senior Warden’s platform in the west was extended one foot in each direction. Brother John Hopkins donated the lilies and pomegranates on the pillars in the west. On September 5th the Lodge noted that the house that was purchased next to the parking lot was to be sold to Brother Hannum for $500.00 and to be moved off Lodge property within three weeks. The Called meeting for October 24th 1968 was cancelled due to Hurricane Gladys. Alas, my brother!

It is our sad duty to report the passing of Brother John E. Sawyer. Brother Sawyer passed to that celestial Lodge above on or about September 5, 2017 at his home. The family has just been notified and will let us know about funeral services.

Mendelssohn, Paxton T. September 15, 2016

We have just learned of the passing of Brother Paxton Mendelssohn. Brother Mendelssohn passed to that celestial Lodge above on September 15, 2016. Alas, my brother!

MENDELSSOHN, PAXTON T. 69, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016. He was born in Norwalk, Connecticut on December 14, 1946, to Paxton Mendelssohn II and Emily Jane Turnbull. He attended New Canaan Country Day School, Middlesex Jr. High, and graduated from Shattuck Academy in Faribault, Minnesota in 1965. He attended Norwalk Community College studying Business Management and Computer Programming. While working at Clairol in the data processing department, he met his future wife, Kathleen M. Ryan of Stamford, Connecticut. They married December 24, 1967 and have one son, Paxton B. Mendelssohn. In 1969 Mr. Mendelssohn enlisted in U.S. Army serving in Vietnam with the 329th Transportation Company Heavy Boat headquartered in De Nang. Upon leaving the Service Mr. Mendelssohn and his wife owned many businesses including horse farms, KPM motor sports, and classic and antique auto restoration businesses. His most recent business was Timeline DeZine, parent company of The Magic Lamp, a lighting store. He excelled in consulting on restoration of period and historic buildings and interiors in Florida, Connecticut and Ohio. Mr. Mendelssohn was very active with his Masonic Lodge and his York Rite Commandery in the state of Ohio and was serving as Eminent Grand Senior Warden of the Grand Commandery of Ohio. He received his AASR 33º in the Scottish Rite. Mr. Mendelssohn was serving on the Board of Trustees of the Ohio Masonic Home, and was the Chairman of the Residents Relation Committee. Mr. Mendelssohn loved history and he and his wife were active in civil war reenactments, and were included as extras in the movie "Gods and Generals." Mr. Mendelssohn and his wife also had a passion for trains and both worked for the White Water Valley Railroad in Connersville, Indiana, where Paxton worked as a diesel engineer and a fireman on a steam engine.

Duffy, John August 7, 2017


It is our sad duty to report the passing of Brother John Duffy. Brother Duffy passed to that celestial Lodge above on August 7, 2017 in the presence of his family. Brother Duffy was a 47 year Mason and passed away at the age of 91 years. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers. We will pass on any announcement of services as they become known.
