Mural Program a Success

Barbara Salazar, the talented artist and proprietor of “Art By Salazar,” recently captivated an audience of 56 individuals at Gulf Beach Masonic Lodge (14020 Marguerite Dr. Madeira Beach) with an enlightening presentation on her masterpiece: “The Construction of King Solomon’s Temple” mural commissioned for the lodge back in 2013. The mural, a labor of love, took Salazar an impressive three years to complete, encompassing over 1100 hours of meticulous craftsmanship.

Delving deep into her creative process, Salazar shared how she intricately incorporated hundreds of Masonic symbols into the painting, demonstrating her profound understanding of the lodge’s rich heritage and symbolism.

Salazar’s dedication to authenticity was evident as she recounted her numerous journeys to Scotland and England, where she painstakingly researched and replicated the pillars at Rosslyn Chapel, ensuring utmost accuracy in her portrayal. As a self-trained artist, Salazar’s achievement is all the more remarkable, showcasing her innate talent and unwavering commitment to her craft.

The evening commenced with a sumptuous chicken cordon bleu dinner, prepared by Lodge Junior Warden, Brother Tim Delaney, with the assistance of Lodge Stewards, Brothers Jim Tizzano and Brian Marshall. Notably, the event also welcomed esteemed residents from the Masonic Home, fostering a sense of community and love.

Barbara Salazar’s husband, Fernando Salazar, served as the Worshipful Master of Gulf Beach Lodge in 2013, further highlighting the profound connection between the artist and the lodge.

Freemasonry is a beacon of inclusivity, welcoming men from all backgrounds, professions, and walks of life into its organization. Throughout history, its membership has boasted presidents, astronauts, teachers, firefighters, generals, captains of industry, and individuals from every imaginable vocation.

Gulf Beach Lodge exemplifies Freemasonry’s commitment to community service and philanthropy, actively participating in initiatives such as the “Keep Pinellas Beautiful” Adopt a Mile program, sponsoring annual scholarships for high school seniors, organizing elementary school “Bikes for Books” programs, and providing holiday food baskets to families in need. Such endeavors not only demonstrate the fraternity’s dedication to building a stronger community but also underscore its fundamental principle of charity. Freemasonry’s doors are open to men aged 18 and above, who desire to be a part of an organization that builds character and gives back to the community through positive out-reach programs.
